ISAPP 2005
International School on
AstroParticle Physics
European
Doctorate School
June 30th - July 9th, 2005
Belgirate, Lago Maggiore, Italy
Announcement
A network of European Doctorate Schools has organized a common curriculum in Astroparticle Physics. On the basis of agreements among these schools the specialized courses concerning Astroparticle Physics are organized in a common International School on Astroparticle Physics (ISAPP), while bilateral or multilateral student exchanges concerning the research activities in this field are also possible, in view of their thesis preparation.
The network presently includes the
following Institutes:
*
INR and RRC Kurchatov Laboratory from Russia;
* Technical
University Munich, Heidelberg University, MPI-Munich and
MPI-Heidelberg from Germany;
* College de France (Paris
VII) and Orsay (Paris XI) from France;
* Weizmann
Institute from Israel;
* Valencia University from Spain;
* Bari, Ferrara, Genova, Milano 1, Milano Bicocca, Napoli,
Padova, Torino Universities from Italy.
Other Institutions are negotiating their joining.
The previous ISAPP Schools were held in:
Varenna (Como) , 2002 ;
Conca Specchiulla (Otranto) and Madonna di Campiglio (Trento) , 2003 ;
Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso, Assergi (L'Aquila) , 2004 ;
ISAPP is open to
all the doctorate students and young
researchers in the Astroparticle area.
In 2005 the
International School on AstroParticle Physics
(ISAPP 05) will be held on the Lago Maggiore, at the Hotel Villa
Carlotta in Belgirate, Italy. It is sponsored by the Istituto
Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) , the Universita' degli Studi di
Torino and Milano, and by the Regione Piemonte.
The lectures will
cover the following topic: High Energy Cosmic Rays.
An update on recent results in neutrino physics will be also be given.
Free discussions between students and teachers will have a good
assignment
of time. The students will be invited to give short seminars.
The lectures concerning the main topics covered this year will
take a time roughly equivalent to two courses of a standard doctorate
school. Some Institutions of the network consider ISAPP as equivalent
to one or two courses of their doctorate schools, acknowledging
credits to the students and/or asking them to prove what they learnt
with a seminar, colloquium, or else. The School will deliver to the
student a document certifying their attendance to the school
mentioning the given seminar if any. A Registration Fee of 100 Euro is
required.
The ISAPP organization is able to help students giving contributions to their living and/or travel expenses. A selection among the applications will be done on the basis of their C.V.
The deadline for application is April 30, 2005.
